City ham question. . .

So I'm doing the Alton Brown "City Ham" as so many here recommend. . . But Alton says cook it to 130 first before you add the good stuff to it.
What if your ham is already cooked? I have this Smithfield half ham, and I'm pretty sure it's cooked. If I heat it slowly to 130 before I add the goodness, will that hurt it, or?
Thanks!

Nope, won't hurt it a bit. I have cooked that recipe a few times and it comes out perfect IMHO.

Mike:
You did it with a cooked ham from the store?
Thanks! -
Yep, a fully cooked, ready to eat ham.
-
Yup, cooked & pre-smoked. I do it all the time. Better than Honey Backed Ham.
I pull at 130°. Dembones are good stuff for soups - don't toss.
