beer butt time/temp

I have 2 4lb chickens beer butted ready to go at 325 direct on a raised grid. How long should this take?

    Hi Seth, it's been a while. Welcome back.[p]I tried beer butt at the higher temp (325) and after about 25 minutes, I had to wrap the bird to keep it form torching on the outside. I wrapped & lowered the temp to about 275 after the first 25-30 minutes. It still took almost 2 hours. Results were a little better than fair. Next time I will keep temp in the 225-250 range and plan more time to cook.[p]Banker John
