some of you will remember the chicken legs from last week

i used un-wrapped firebrick splits for indirect and forgot the drip pan. thougth i would burn off the grease while heating up for todays cook... brick flamed in the egg till i got tired of waiting. removed brick at 700°

burned outside the egg for quite a while.. would not recommend letting grease drip on firebrick

Aluminum foil to the rescue for future cooks! I always foil my plate setter and bricks when grease drippings are going to happen.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

i foil the plate setter , the drip pan was sitting next to the egg and when i noticed it, it was already too late in the adult beverage consumption cycle.

Now THAT's a fire brick :woohoo:

Young William I would think you are several deep in the adult stuff now with that kind of fire outside the Egg! I thought it was going to rain up there today? You may have provided me a way to save money AND keep warm the next few months. Think the US Post Office will let you ship some of those grease incrusted bricks this way?!
