OT Waring Pro Belgian Waffle Maker

Has anyone had problems with the the Waring Pro Belgian waffle maker? I was told it was one of the best, however,I have now gone through two in less then two years. In both cases the heating elements appears to have gone bad. The last one, I used only two or three times.

I have heard that it is one of the best also, however, I have been looking at the Kitchen-aid Pro lately.
Looks very strong and heavy duty.

After the problems I have had with the Waring Pro I went and bought the Kitchenaide. It is currently 199.99 at Macy's however you may be able to get an additional 20% if you buy on line (I had to call their service dept for the 20%) and if you use their card another 10% at billing. I thought that was a good deal.

Call Waffle House & ask them what they use. They make about a zillion wallfes a week on 'em. For years on end. Never clean 'em either.

Mine has been reliable in weekly use (probably 125 waffles in its six-month lifetime), but I've also heard as you have that this model has issues. I've noticed that virtually every floor model I've seen is broken; the construction isn't as solid as the faux-metal plastic would lead one to believe. In my last cook I had to bump the temp up a little to get the waffles the same darkness, so that may bode poorly although I was experimenting with a different waffle recipe. Another common failure mode is the swiveling front handle breaking; it's pretty flimsy and needs to be babied. They also have one out now with a folding front handle to use less storage space.

Yes, a lot of issues. But wow, does it make good waffles, best I've ever tasted.

If you have a commercial application I'd look at their all-metal one, which is much more expensive but does make two waffles at a time.

Hope you didn't buy yours from Linens-n-Things... :ohmy:

I looked at them, but there were two reports (I think that the reports were on Amazon) from users that the waffle makers came apart while in use and made quite a mess, also dangerous to recover from. I went with a Cuisinart 4 square $100 @ Amazon or Chef's online. I have only used it once, but so far so good.
