Broke another dinner plate last night........

on the flat surface stovetop trying to keep my son's dinner warm until he got home to eat. :pinch: I only had the element on warm. I should know better than to do this by now as I have broken a couple in the past doing exactly the same thing. Duh. When you have to keep food warm for a period after it comes off of the Egg, how do you do it? Between our busy schedules, I end up doing this a lot and I hate what the microwave does to my food. Thanks, Mark

I use the top of the toaster oven for this, and to heat up the dinner plates before dinner.

Mark I have the same problem with my son never here when it's time to eat so we use Correle dishes. You can pick them up right at Wally World. They are Microwave, oven and dishwasher-safe.

I put the plate of food in the oven on its lowest setting (170 degrees in my case). It's a lot safer than putting it on a stove element. The stove element contains a LOT of heat. The air in the oven contains very little heat, relatively speaking. The Naked Whiz

Someone here at work was just telling me about some sort of plate or platter that has oil in it that you can pre-heat for such occasions, but they didn't know anything else about it. Anybody heard of these?

You gotta quit throwing those plates at Thea, nice cover thought

I heard the high pitched "Tink" and knew what had happened. Luckily, the plate only cracked, so I transferred his dinner to another plate and finished the cracked one off over my left thigh.
Then into the waste basket.
Trust me when I tell you that SHE is far more likely to throw things than me.
Luckily, I can still move pretty fast.

might try same way we keep butts and briskets warm, beer cooler, just add an egg heated firebrick or two for extra mass. Twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc.

Been married 32 years. Haven't broken a plate yet, neither everyday nor good china (Personally I prefer the everyday stuff: Royal Doulton Provencal). One of the kids dropped a small dish years ago and a salad bowl broke (always had a hollow sound to it) but we replaced those when we were in London. (Provencal is D/C) I always handle the stuff carefully and I try not to PO the wife if she is holding any pieces. That way nothing gets thrown.
