Just Learned Something About Buttermilk

My grandmother used to milk her own cow and make her own butter. The milk left over from the butter churning was always referred to as 'buttermilk' and it was used to make biscuits and cornbread.

Then one day I noticed the word 'cultured' on a buttermilk carton. I wondered what it meant so I Googled it a few minutes ago and discovered that the 'buttermilk' I grew up with is not the same as 'cultured' sold in the store. That could explain why I can't make biscuits and cornbread like Grandma used to make.
