Couldn't decide what to do first, but I knew I wanted to stay relatively simple. Went to the grocery store blind, and perused the meat section. I was home alone, so I had no worries about having to feed anyone, dinner time, etc. Had intended to buy a nice fillet, but at the last second decided to go with something that would take a little while longer. Settled on Baby Back ribs.[p]After about 30 minutes of leafing through recipes, I dicarded the 3-1-1.5 method for something a little simpler. I am sure that this method is much better than what I did, but I wanted to do something easier so that I might "get to know" my egg a little better.[p]Ended up putting them on direct heat, at around 250, for about 2 hours. Simple rub and mustard on the outside. They ended up turning out much better than I had anticipated. I expected chewy and ended up with very tender, even if they weren't falling off the bone. [p]Needless to say, I'm hooked. Please point me to the support group nearest Atlanta, GA.

SSDawg, the second best support group is at the corner of Clairmont and Buford Highway at the BGE Headquarters. The best is this forum.

Wise One,[p]Only a couple of miles from my Brookhaven home. It's where I purchased my egg.[p]This is gonna get ugly.

    SSDawg,
Congratulations on your new BGE. I second the Wise One's choice of support staff. The people on this forum are the best around and someone ususally chimes in with an answer or comment sometimes within minutes of posting. I know you'll be a whiz with your BGE in no time.

Shelby,[p]Money spent, time invested, etc. is going to get ugly. The fact that the store is almost within walking distance won't help my wallet. Just making a little joke. I already spend a ton of money on culinary equipment as it is.[p]

    SSDawg,
Yeah, you're right - you're just getting started! Next you'll want a small or a medium to keep your large company (didn't you say you had a large?). Next a mini to take camping or to the park or lake, and then a chimnea for those chili winter nights that you occasionally have even in Atlanta. And don't forget accessories like a plate setter and pizza stone, a grill extender, a small shop vac to aid in cleaning, a MAPP gas torch . . . the list just goes on and on! But what fun it all is!! Welcome to the forum and to a BGE life.

Steve-O,[p]Plate setter and drip pan to be purchased in the morning. Nothing like diving right in.[p]Good thing my existing obsessions have resulted in a drawer full of thermometers.

SSDawg, yeah, I can see it now. You say "I'm going out to get myself a fix." She says, "Oh, Dawg, what about us? What about the baby? Don't we matter to you? Must you go and spend all of our money on your obsession while we sit here penniless and destitute." And then you'll say "Baby. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. I need that extra EGG. It MEDIUM and LARGE and now MINI makes three - just like the three of us." [p]Yeah, you're right that is ugly.
