replaced my BGE dome therm with a 150*-750* tel-tru today, used a 1/2 inch copper tee to 'shorten' the stem.

Love my Tel-tru....cool spacer! I use a cut down wine cork.

thanks, i have a few copper tees and elbows for creating space between drip pan and plate setter, so i used the tee in a pinch as tel-tru space.
when i have more time, i'll replace it with a short length of straight copper stuffed with wine cork...kind of like armoured wine cork

no offense, but I use this 1/2" thick wooden toy wheel to both protect the back of the thermometer, plus make it more flush against the dome and therefore less chance to hit it due to the lack of depth perception. Granted that wheel only uses up half of the extra stem length, but what's a half inch amongst friends?

you're right about protecting the back of the tel-tru...actually i'm now thinking why not use double wheels?
guess these wheels are available at WM or Michael's?canuckland -
