OK...Noob question...Where can I get some of that stuff?
-
Dang Mike, what size is that bottle? Looks like single serving.
-
And Pete accuses me of WHINING!!! I will be so glad when you guys are all out of this stuff. It is just glorified salsa right? :evil: :side: :silly:
-
Not at all,its amazing! :evil: -RP

Steve is like a crack dealer he gives you the first sample free :woohoo: Then when your hooked, which is immediate the price will go thru the roof :pinch: :pinch: . Kidding but the stuff is as good or better than everybody is saying and Steve has been very generous supporting us addicts :silly: Hope it becomes available in the states soon.

Pat,
I haven't had time to get to the importer but I did phone them and they do have a US distributor. I left a message for the marketing manager but he has yet to call me back. I knew someone who worked in marketing there a few years ago but is no longer there. I still don't know for sure if they have even submitted to USDA.

It is nothing like Salsa at all. It is a totally unique flavor experience that is indeed addictive. Lucky for me I use mine extremely sparingly. I'm lke a crack head who uses just enough to get by, rationing out my supply. I finished my first jar and opened my second jar recently. I have a third in waiting.
-
Would you like some Crackers and LaBomba with that WHINE
:woohoo: :evil: :laugh: :cheer: -
If you can survive 4 more months I have it on good authority that a US distributor will be in Ocala.
-
That sounds like alot of trouble. I just want to have it given to me at party's.
-
Well since I will be in OCALA!! :woohoo: :silly: I might be able to bribe someone for a taste?
-
Sure hope it's soon or I might have to fly to Canada and I'll be sitting on your front step with an empty bag when you get home from work
Thanks Again Steve -
Pat,
I don't actually have a front step, I have a construction ramp. To paraphrase an old Lampoon line "you can set on her just the same" Be a good idea to wear a jacket.

Found this recipe online. I wonder how close it is to the real thing?
Eggplant and Hot Pepper Antipasto Sauce
We are absolutely addicted to "La Bomba" hot antipasto sauce made by Allessia. But it isn't always available, so we looked at the ingredient list and came up with a reasonable facsimile.
Ingredients
* ¼ c. olive oil (more or less)
* 10 mushrooms, chopped finely
* 1 red pepper, chopped finely
* 1 banana pepper, chopped finely
* 1 carrot, coarsely grated
* 1 asian eggplant, chopped finely
* 1 Tbsp chili flakes (more or less)
* 6 canned artichoke hearts, chopped
* 10 sundried black olives, chopped finely
* 5 cocktail olives, chopped finely
* juice of 1 lemon
* salt & pepper
Preparation
1. Heat oil in a skillet. Sauté mushrooms, peppers, carrots, eggplant til soft and all the water has gone from mushrooms.
2. Add chili flakes, artichoke hearts (get good quality ones), olives and heat through.
3. Add lemon juice, salt and pepper.
4. Pour into a clean glass jar. Pour a little olive oil to cover. Allow the sauce to meld in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving. It can be stored in refrigerator for up to a month.
This is a wonderful accompaniment to pizza. It is also very good slathered on thick slices of crusty bread. -
I made that one and while it was pretty good, it missed tasting like Bomba by a mile. -RP
-
that's good to know. It's an odd list of stuff and just adds to the mystique of The One True La Bomba
-thanks -
You guys just keep it up, slather it on everything and eat away this is what you have ahead of you!! :evil: :evil:

:laugh: :laugh: :laugh: That was good

I did a second batch and went heavier with the artichokes and got a little closer then added a whole bunch of roasted red bell peppers and got even closer. There is still an overriding flavor I'm missing, just can't put a finger on it. -RP

hayhonker,
That looks closer than the previous ones I've seen. I would think that one banana pepper would be light. I don't think there are chili flakes in the Alessia. I went to an Italian supermarket yesterday to see if I could find one of the other Bombas that I have seen in the past. There used to be a good one that had red paper and what looked like a fuse wick coming out of the top but this place didn't carry it any more.
Sorry you are addicted but it's really Terry( BENTE the tongue's) fault.

Randy,
This is the sauce I was talking about the other day. It is my favourite for an everyday sauce. I have been buying it for years six or eight cases at a time. You should try it if you see it around, not very hot but really fresh tasting.
