Pizza Recipe

We purchased our BGE (small size) when we were in Alabama in November. Does anyone have a recipe for pizza? We've watched the video but still are wondering how to create the world's best pizza?[p]Any help would be appreciated. It's cold in Wisconsin but no snow as yet...we're waiting.[p]

    Pat,
You are going to need a pizza stone and some fire bricks or other ceramic material to put between the pizza stone and grill surface. BGE does not have a regular pizza stone that will fit the small, but I have seen several others mentioned on this board that will fit small eggs - sorry, but I do not recall where they came from. BGE does offer 8" or 9" (don't remember the size for sure), pizza dishes for personal pan pizzas. These would work fine on your small with a fire brick to set them on. You can call BGE in Atlanta, 404-321-4658, to order them.

  • Pat Hall,
I'm no expert on Pizza, But I do cook it a lot.[p]You will need place setter inverted with a pizza stone on top (I use a wal*mart pizza stone). Also will need a pizza peel. if you don't have a peel, you can use a Pizza Screen and make dough on the screen and place the complete screen on the stone & use a spatula to remove the screen from egg.[p]Fire up the egg and stabilize at 500 for 20 minutes. [p]I don't have a lot of time to make the dough using Spin's recipe, so I go to a local pizza place and buy dough already made by the pound. 1 pound will make 2 nice 8-10" pizza's (cost = $2.00/# - cheaper then I can make it when I factor in time to make it!)[p]Top with favorite toppings (kids love to make their own) and bake for 10 minutes. [p]If you like a pan pizza, use a 9" round cake pan, place 1/4 cup olive oil in pan. Place dough on top of oil, gently knuckle dough to edges of pan & let rise for 45 minute4s while egg comes to temp & stabilizes. Top pizzas in pan and bake right in pan. This will gove a nice thick crust with a cruncy fried crust. For a buttery taste, I also put some orville redenbackers butter popcorn oil in with the olive oil.[p]Remeber, it's all about what YOU like. Eggsperiment and have fun. Post pics if you have a camera as I am camera deficient![p]Just my $.02 - Banker John
