OT: Foodsaver v2460 or v2490?

Okay, my "Seal a Meal" has died and it's time to get a bit more serious (though not too serious!), and buy a Foodsaver. I was at Brandsmart last night and they had the v2460 for $149 and the v2490 for a "special" $99 which was a stainless version and included the cannisters. I can't find any comparison reviews... anyone? Does higher version number mean newer/improved? The one at BB&B is v3460 at $169 and then there's the one at Costco for $159 though no version number on the product online...

It may be as simple as looks and not function. They sometimes do different numbers for different stores. I have the 1085 and it works just fine. After looking them up, the features seem identical. I would save the $

Hey Lynn,
We have the 2420...about a year now...which replaced our 550....must've been old. Just make sure it has the bag cutter in it. We don't use the canisters either...you might save money if you find one that doesn't have them.

They are the same except one is white plastic and the other stainless steel. That's why you can't find a comparison :woohoo:
