I am two weeks new to the BGE Forum and I have learned more in two weeks from the group than I have in all my 32 years of life in The South. Being new to the forum I have been somewhat hesitant to post questions on the board or E-mail anyone directly. I've tried to scan the archives whenever possible. However, I have recently begun to loosen up and join in every now and then.
Everyone has been great with responses to any questions I have had. However, Elder (Carl) Ward and Banker John have truly gone the extra mile in assisting me. Both of these fine BBQ'n gentlemen have taken a tremendous amount of time to write me directly with very detailed instructions to questions I had. John has been an asset in assisting me with a recent rib project and Carl's "How to prepare your fire" essay has saved me countless hours tending the Egg in the middle of the night. Perfect 225 degree fire Carl...everytime.
Even though I still find great delight in smoking a lonely lil' hotdog, I've gathered the courage to take on the "Big Boys" (Boston Butt, Brisket, slabs of ribs etc). Just finished putting Elder's dry rub on a 7 lb. pork butt. I felt like a proud parent holding that lil' fella in my hands! Oh well, getting off on a tangent...
I believe in credit where credit is due so I wanted to share this with the group. Thanks to all who have assisted me thus far and a special thanks to Carl and John. Salude from the Carolinas...now back to the grill. Mac

  • Mac in NC,
Thank you. I'm no expert. Just someone who is willing to admit and share problems I have had with others. There is a difference I believe.[p]71* in Crystal River

Mac in NC,[p]Great post! and like you, I continue to learn volumes from this board.... nothing like the combined experiences of a couple hundred people to help you on your way. :~)
Congratulations on your two weeks of success and to the many many more to come.[p]John[p]Curious as to what part of NC you hail from....[p]
