High and as long as it takes :woohoo:
Actually I normally let er rip at 500 or so for a couple hours. Cooking pizzas is a good way to clean the Egg while cooking. -
550-600 for an hour, or until the smoke is clear.
After done and cooled, you may need to take a crumbled foil ball and scrape away the crusty nasties inside the dome. -
follow the above advice.... do not do what i did.. full load south american lump i did not like. wide open til it burned out 900° just a disaster of melted creosote inside outside full 8 hour day to fix ..
-
lump shouldnt do that, what kind was it. ive done the 900 plus burns and the inside comes out white as new, but if you have a gasket, its toast.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

600 and about an hour or so.
-
this was with 900 to 1100 degree pizzas using wicked good

i dont suggest this burn to anyone relatively new to egging as there are too many problems. gasket will be toast, dome bands thermally expand loosening the dome, springs can lose their temper, etcfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Wow, thats amazing.

Wow!!! Very clean

it was r/o paraquay i did not like it the problem was i had not cleaned the egg in 2 years and all the accumulated grease melted , turned into what looked like melted plastic...ran down the dome over the gasket and down the outside of the egg. gasket area was just like melted plastic. 'creosote' was barely soluable. tried goop off, acetone, turpentine, gasoline, alcohol. gasoline and a scrubby pad worked best.. was not the heat but 2 years worth of melted crud.. had to sand the egg rim get it off.. bummer,,, but really cool jet blue flames shooting out the top
bill -
i would still go with a lower temp burn though, notice the cracks in the firebox, that box is in nine pieces and ive burned thru more lump grates than i think anyone here has.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
