Chili Receipe

edited November -1 in EggHead Forum
Y'all remember that I asked for a good chili receipe? I made my chili from combining ingredients from a few receipes? It was the best stuff ever. I know some have asked what I used, so I promise to give it to you soon. Thanks again to everyone who let me in on what they put in their chili. Every one that came over LOVED it. I would suggest that you get one of those Lodge brand Dutch Ovens. The 7Quart worked great on my Mid thumper.

  • RebelCause, I'd be interested in that chili recipe. Time to give the hog population a break and turn my attention back to the cows. Mac

  • Mac in NC,[p]I tell you what I do know right off the top of my head. When I get a chance I will give more specifics.[p]6 pounds London Broil cut into 1inch cubes
    2 Sorrano Peppers
    1 Jalapeno Pepper
    Mexican Oregeno
    Chili Powder
    Ceyenne Powder
    Cumin
    6 cloves garlic minced
4 yellow onions (Videllas if in season)
    Small bag of pinto beans
Two cans of Hunts Tomato Sauce
Two cans of Water (Hunts tomato Sauce Cans)
Few dashes of Wistshir Sauce(excuse the spelling)
2 Bottles of Shiner Bock Beer(must use dark beer)
    Little Veg. Oil
    Lodge Dutch Oven
Thumber the Green Egg[p]I will definitly write the rest down. This comes out warm but not inedible.[p]Everyone loved it. Even the girls.

  • RebelCause,[p]I like to throw in a good handfull of leftover pulled pork. After sitting in the chili with everything else for a couple of hours, the smoke taste from the pork rounds out the whole thing. Good way to use up leftover buut, should there be any.
  • RebelCause,[p]Good call I'm going to try this one. We have one of those dutch ovens. I have some questions tho:[p]1. Did you soak the beans first or put them in dry?[p]2. What kind of cooking time and temp did you use?[p]3. Did you set the dutch oven on the grate? Or perhaps down in the coals themsleves?
