Attempting rib roast, Elder Ward's suggested method
Cooking for 10 min. at 750° then shutdown vents and dwell for 1 hour.

The entire point here was to express thanks for the suggestion and post a couple pics of the results. This rib roast came out wonderful and Don't be afraid to try this method. I did leave the roast dwell a little longer than an hour and it was a small, 3 1/2 pound roast. Sorry for the two post without any picture. I had forgotten to put them in a gallery at Pbase before posting the url.

forgot to mention, it was indirect,fire bricks,drip pan with a little water, hi-temp for 15-20,dwell for 70 minutes. It was delicious and thanks for the technique.

Yeah indirect does take longer. I thought you had done the direct method and was wondering why it required longer time. Glad it worked out for you.[p]Elder Ward
