Can anyone tell me how far of a walk this is? One a map it looks close, but...... I don't want to be dragging my luggage over several city blocks just to get to the Varsity. Thanks, Mark

That's not even close to walking distance.

From Marta: On the North-South Line, get off at North Ave. station and go west on North Ave. until you see The Varsity on the right. -
Assuming you are referring to "North Avenue Station"...it's a few blocks. not an issue normally, but may be slightly tricky with luggage.
-
It's about 2.5 - 3 blocks. When you leave the MARTA Stations go to Spring Street (one block west - toward the Interstate) and head south down Spring to the corner of Spring and North Ave.
Won't be a bad walk for you. -
Sorry, North Ave. is what I meant. Thanks
-
Isn't the North Ave stop actually on Peachtree north of North Ave?
It's been a while since I've used that station. -
Thanks guys. We won't have much luggage I hope!, but the wife will probably try to pack half the house up if I know her, so I'll play it by ear. If I get there, it will be around 1:00 or so. Thanks again.
-
sorry, I saw "north" and thought North springs. That's a walk you don't want to do!
-
How close does Marta run to the Comfort Suites?
-
It doesn't. About 8 miles to the nearest rail station from Comfort Suites/Mothership area.
You could do it with a bus transfer or three, but it would not be a fun trip.
Public transportation is not Atlanta's crowning achievement. -
Thanks Rod. Just trying to find the best way to get Beli and his wife in. Didn't know if taking the Marta and escorting them back or driving to the airport and picking them up would be best.
-
That would depend on what time of day they would be getting in.
If they arrive before 4:00 I would go pick them up. If between 4:00 and 6:00 it would be a long, long trip to and from the airport through town. -
IMHO, Marta is the way to go. It picks up directly from the Airport. We could get them from the Doraville Station to Tucker in Friday afternoon traffic much easier than from the Airport.
The only tricky part is you have to make sure the train you are on is bound for Doraville, not North Springs. If not, you must disembark at Piedmont station and board a train bound for Doraville. Not to bad, but for someone not familiar with it, I could see the reluctance. -
Thanks Rod, He arrives at 2:59 so we'll just figure it out tomorrow.
Thanks again -
Thanks Ron, depending on the advice of you locals. See you tomorrow.
-
You should pick him up. He's going to be carrying more then just his luggage if I remember right.
-
I believe thats what is going to happen :woohoo: :woohoo: See ya soon Pete.
