I just purchased an 11.3 quart aluminum pot to make soups. Can I use it on my BGE if I place it on top of my pizza stone just above my spider?

If it fits. I don't see why not.

Make sure your lid will close w/o the thermometer hitting the pot. I bent the shaft of one of mine when it it hit a cast iron dutch oven.

You might want to put some little spacers between the stone and the pot, such as the Egg's 3 little green feet, or some wads of foil, just so the pot is only getting the heat from the surrounding air. A stone does even out the temp, but will eventually transmit the heat well enough that the bottom of the soup pot will get really hot, and cause some burning.

If it's a thick aluminum pot, you could prolly get away with using it right over the coals so long as you don't end up with a screaming fire. Otherwise the pizza stone might not be a bad idea, just give it some time to preheat.

Also, consider a cast iron dutch oven. They are pretty cheap, and I always use right over the coals.

    Good luck!
