v-rack for Med BGE
Banker John
Posts: 583
I ordered a V Rack for my medium BGE. Delivered today. Did a dry run to see fit. When placing plat setter inverted then 9x13 drip & V rack (ordered together), the dom wil lnot close. TOO BIG.[p]anyone else had this problem? or am I not putting the pieces together in the correct order? I was told by BGE in Atlanta that the V Rack is same for Large & medium BGE? Could I have been told wrong? Is there a different (smaller size) for the Medium. Help, it's thursday and I was really looking forward to a roast on Saturday.

Banker John,[p]I have a medium and had exactly the same problem. It just doesn't fit. I have not yet gotten one that does fit.

Banker John, i use an adjustable rack made for the small BGE & it fits just great.

Banker John,
I got a Weber v-rack at Home Depot. Works great
-
Banker John,
Also -- Place v-rack directly in drip pan, no grill on the plate setter. I'm sure you are doing that, but I thought of it after sending first meesage.

Banker John,[p]I also have what you are trying - won't work. I simply use the disposable aluminum drip pans with the vrack in the drip pan. Works like a charm on everyhing. The one trick I learned was to put a piece of aluminum foil over the drip pan and then cut two slits in the foil for the vrack legs. That way your drippings wont burn and create that bitter taste on whatever meat you are cooking.[p]My 2cents....[p]GO DAWGS!!!![p]DD

KennyG,
Last time I was in there, the BGE store in Atlanta carried this v-rack as well. Of course it was stainless steel, but I guess yours could have been nice and clean before using it.

KennyG,
Being that we don't like dark turkey meat, about all we roast here are turkey breasts. This rack works wonders on a 8 to 10 lb. T. breast. I use this one all the time.
