Need Advise on Size BGE.
I am about to invest in our first BGE. Mostly its just the wife and me. Kids are all grown and on their own. Occassionally we have the gang over but not frequent. The quandry is over size. While the large seems logical (these eggs do not look big) I dont want to over do it. Just from reading I think they are a good investment in cookware.

Marty C.,
Get the large. and thanks for not going with the tired joke/subject "Does size matter?".

Marty C.,
Get the large. You can always get a smaller one to add to your collection when you discover just how much fun it is. Plus, you will find that your neighbors will become more "neighborly." Consider it an investment.[p]Spring Chicken

Marty C., get the large - it's just the two of us also, but I'm glad I went that route - OTOH the BGE gets in your blood and several of us have ended up buying all the sizes. Remember it's a lifetime purchase and your kids will want it after you're gone - that's the beauty of ceramic it won't rust out like the owner! 8^)

Marty C.,
Get a large. I'm a newbee and have a one-month old medium and already want a large. Last night we cooked a butterflied (spatchcocked) chicken and a side dish of bbq beans. The chicken pretty much took up the entire cooking surface. A two-tierd grill might help, but the height of the dome limits what you can put on the second level.

Marty C.,
Don't' even think smaller than the large "egg". I live alone and have a "medium", I never use it without wishing I had gotten the "large", you just never want to cook just a single item and there are not many cubic inches of cooking space for multiple items on any of the "eggs". Too I like to cook enough to have enough left over to freeze for a "quickee" meal another day. Beware! These "eggs" are addictive and you will want another.. NDE

Marty C.,
Without taking time to read all the other replies, I'll say buy the large since it's your first Egg and likely you are replacing another grill. While not overly large, you don't want to start out with a grill too small or you'll become discouraged by not having needed room.
Personally, I was debating between a medium and large. When I was able to compare side by side, for an additional $150, I went with the large. Now, about to add a small for veggies and such.

Shelby,
I feel your response would have had more impact had you omitted the opening phrase before the comma, personally I found it somewhat egocentric...NDE

Marty C., I just got my large BGE 10 days ago and I chose the large over the medium after reading the adivce of these owners in the archives. It is just my wife and I, the kids live 1.200 miles north.
I'm glad I spent the extra $90, in my case, for the large. I am cooking up a storm and enjoy having the extra space for veggies or freezer meals. Just don't expect that bag of lump to last several months like the add says. Mine may make it 4 weeks but it will be close. I doubt the medium would do much better.
Life is one big smorgasbord.

Strmn2smoke,
Sorry if it came out wrong...you're right...shouldn't have put that part in without explaining. Computer is slowly dying and it takes forever to read all the posts. Sorry if I offended you or anyone else.

Shelby,
Thanks for the reply, no hard fellings, just thought it should be brought to your attention. Some of the "political correctness" sensitivity must have rubbed off on me.Have a Happy Thanksgiving and keep posting..nde
