Pork Barrel Turkey

Taking delivery tommorrow of a succulent 24-26 lb Bell and Evans turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Considering a cider brine before wrapping in a butter and herb saturated cheesecloth for a six hour roast over alder and pecan chips and have stocked up on Johnny's Hard Apple Cider to warm my bones while I'm out there eyeballin the polder.
The wife is already wincing in pain at the image she has of me stumbling through the dining room with my finger through the loop of the gallon jug of hard cider, babbling: "sshay, didshyou know that thish ish the sshame bird that they're ssherving at the White Houshe for Thankshgibbing?" to each and every guest, repeatedly and endlessly.[p]But, oh no, she's not worried that I'll embarrass myself and her in front of her entire family, that's to be expected; she's worried that nobody will eat a "Republican" turkey.[p]Happy Thanksgiving All,
