Gasket Problems

Newbie here. I was heating my new BGE last night and let it get to about 500 degrees dome temperature. Opened the dome slowly and the top gasket fell off into the firebox and burned up. Went to Home Depot this morning but couldn't find anything that remotely resembled gasket material. It probably would have helped if I knew what I was looking for. Is there something I can get at Home Depot or do I ned to go back and order through my dealer? Thanks for any help you can provide.

call the mothership in atlanta. and get a nomex gasket it is made with the same material they make racing suits out of... i have had one on my egg with no problems unless i drop a lit piece of lump on it

talk to your dealer 1st. if they are stubborn or ignorant call the mothership, where they will always take care of you.
the new nomex sounds like the newest and easiest way to go.

Same thing happened to me. I guess the adhesive from the factory wasn't too good ??

Mine did the same thing. Called dealer and he sent out a serviceman who cleaned the area with Acetone, sprayed 777 adhesive and let it dry. Applied a new gasket, and all is well.
