Thanks to all who gave advice last night, I ventured into relleno-ing some peppers tonight, we start with my pablano plants which are yielding nicely, picked a few, subjected them to the blast furnace setting on the egg, popped in a bag to steam off the charred skin, stuffed'm with some cheese, beer batter fried'm, topped'm with a fresh salsa made from my own West Chester Plums & Serranos (plus some other stuff that was in the recipe), served'm with some nice baked beens & a fine brew, & of course we can't forget the grave

Hey Zippy, that's a nice crapper you have, but what's that other junk?
Just kidding, chiles look great man :woohoo:

if you're referring to that mirror on the floor, crack a beer, this is a semi-long story. I'm at work one day & my son calls me on the phone: "dad, I didn't do it, but the mirror in the bathroom downstairs was on the sink when I got home". "OK", I say, mirrors just don't jump off the wall & land on the sink just like I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday & land on my ass, what the #&*% did you do? Nothin dad, really... OK, I'll look at it when I get home... few hours later I get home, go into the bathroom, there's the mirror resting on the sink, & a hole in the wall the size of a silver dollar w/torn drywall like someone was hanging on it when the wall gave way... so I am about to seek out & slap  the boy when I, for the hell of it, stuck my finger in the hole &, to my dismay, it's all juicy, soak'n wet. So I do some poken & prodd'n & discover there is a pinhole leak in one of my pipes & the entire wall is saturated from the back... Anyway, that was six months ago & I still haven't re-hung the mirror

Zippylip,
I love rellenos. Can't grow poblanos here in Canada but I am thinking of putting in a small greenhouse. Two questions... does "keep your hand upon the throttle and your eye upon the rail" mean anyting to you. And were you aware that life is too short to eat and drink badly?

in reverse order, I was aware that life is too short to eat & drink badly, keep your hand upon the throttle & your eye upon the rail means nothing to me other than its literal interpretation, & I would certainly construct a greenhouse immediately if it allowed me to grow my own pablanos & other veggieshappy in the hut

Zippylip,
From the cradle to the grave was a line from an old Gospel/Bluegrass song that I particularly loved. Just wondered if that was where it came from. The other thing I sort of translated from your salutation. Excellent choice!

maybe slirped that up in the old sub-conscious somewhere along the way, who knows, but the salutation is in the forefront of my philosphy, & along those lines, addesso e il tempo dire buona serata e ci vediamo prestohappy in the hut

They look great Zippy!!
Your earlyer post said you wanted to do it all in the Egg. Did you see the link of the cook I did in that thread? Hears a couple pics from that thread.

Marc,
Excellent post--I had a good laugh at the end! -
JL I did see that & appreciate it, but decided in the end to finish the frying indoors, I also had some other stuff on the egg anyway, but I ended up semi-deep frying them in about an inch of oil in a real deep pan, so they needed one flip & they were done; they were great, especially with the sauce on top & a cold onehappy in the hut
