Cast Iron at Costco

I noticed yesterday two deals on cast iron at my local Costco store:

Deal (1): Lodge pre-seasoned Dutch Oven with Lid, $23.49
Costco p/n 238970
Lodge 4.75qt/4.50L, 10.25in/26.0cm diam
This dutch oven has "ears" for handles, not a top bucket-style hoop handle.
I also noticed that the lid has interior "warts" for self-basting, much like the expensive Staub enamelled line.

Deal (2): LeCreuset 3-piece set, $189.99
Costco p/n 248441
LeCreuset, in box
11.75in black enamelled skillet
3qt enamelled saucier with cover; saucier cover does not fit skillet

  • is it a good deal really?
my area costco doesn't have the dutch oven, and couldn't find it on the web site.

Amazon dot com has 5qt, 10x10x4, same style for 26.99, preseasoned, loop handles etc...

    gotta shop around sometimes :)

    tks for info though
  • Costco is weird that way. Some stuff in stores isn't on the website, some stuff on the website isn't in stores, some stuff in some stores isn't in other stores.

Looks like the Amazon deal is comparable, just $3.50 more if you get free shipping. No tax with Amazon, but you don't get the 2% back that Costco gives exec members at end of year.

Here are cellphone snapshots of the two items on display...forgive me for taking the chance to learn how to display pics from Photobucket! :cheer:
