help!!pork shoulder

i will be smoking a bunch of pulled pork. i instructed my wife to pick up the boston butt from my butcher in my stead as i was unable to order or pick it up. she got 3 pork shoulders--it looks like the shoulder down to the elbow, half with the skin still on. i skinned the first and rubbed it. is there any experience out there with this large of a piece of meet. it will overhang my standard drip pan by a few inches but should still fit in the egg. it's 17 lbs. If that one smokes ok then i'll set up a double tiered system and smoke the other two together. also, i would like to put it on tonight but just rubbed it. what's consensus on rub pre-cook time and does anybody notice a difference if you leave it set overnight vs smoke it 1-2 hrs after rubbing?
