Need help with assembly (Large BGE)
Big Papa
Posts: 220
I brought my 1st BGE home today and have been sorking on putting it together.
I am as far as putting the dome on and attaching the rings.
I have the dome on but it just doesn't seem like it gets flush.
there always seems to be a 1/8 or 1/4 inch overhang, no matter how i try.
What am i doing wrong?
Any tips?

Hard to tell, can you post a picture so we can see what it looks like, then the collective genius can diagnose & perhaps make recommendations :blink:happy in the hut

Should the dome be Flush through out though?
Could take a lifetime to get it lined up . lol -
Yes.

If you are talking about flush as in no overhang...I wouldn't worry about it...
If you are talking about flush as in how the lid sits on the base..then yes it is important...
And make sure you tighten your band bolts till they bend.. -
Will tightening the bands until they bend make the rings more flush you think?.
Just afraid to tighten the bolts and have them bend if its wrong. -
bolts should be be bent

not long ago someone had a dome and base that did not match ,, it is covered under the warranty . your dealer should help unless you bought online,, should eb cllsoe and pass the dollar bill test,

In my experience, no.
You can tighten the band bolts until the band is tight, but bolts are not bending. If there are any gaps (especially visual gaps) between the dome and base then loosen, adjust and tighten. Check again.
Another good way to check for gaps is to put a bright light inside the egg. If there is no light showing between the base and dome you are pretty close. However, the dollar bill test is the best test.
If the fit is good and it passes the dollar bill test then finish tightening the bolts until they bend.
Don't beat yourself up over this, if after a couple of tries and you can't get an alignment then call your dealer and or call BGE for help.
You don't want to light the egg if there is a visual gap.
Once adjusted do not use the hinge or handle to lift the egg, you may cause the alignment to change.

Youtube Video Series
I watched this video series before I got my egg. Seemed pretty thorough. My egg was assembled when I got it though.
