Keep the back right corner for a urinal
  • Are you going to have running water/sink. Plenty of storage. And cable and electrical outlets for stereo and television.

Doug, let me know if you need some help. I'm no carpenter but have two strong arms.
  • Doug, I always liked your present set-up, from the photos you have posted. The new one should be even better.

You guys are great.I know that my present set-up is functional, but there is always room for improvement.Ron and Damon, you are invited for the roof raising party  Hell,I'll even supply the beer and food :woohoo: You guys like hot pockets? ;)
  • Doug, I like the layout alot! I think you'll really like having both covered and uncovered space...I have an arbor over mine, and wish I would have gone ahead and put a full roof and tied it into the house.

One question...you making room on that electrical panel for a fridge? I found a Franklin Chef outdoor fridge (insulated for the heat, and made for the outdoor environmentals) for about $450 (as I recall) and it is easily my favorite accessory to my setup. It allows me to take different courses of the meal outside, keep them in the fridge til they need to go on the grill. I can stay with my egg and gasser grill, drink beer with my buddies and enjoy the outdoors. I looked at other outdoor fridges and they were ridiculous expensive (over $1k, some over $2k), but this little FC unit has been cranking for 2 years...and it keeps the beer VERY cold, even in the Texas Summer!

    Good luck!

Thanks Brad,I'll look into that fridge.I already have a full size fridge in the barn, and was thinking about a small fridge for the deck.I do not want to tie the roof into the house, but will have a bunch of dry space, and power available.I think that I'll put a small sub-panel in the bar. This will feed all the lighting, water heater, stereo equipment, and anything else needed ;) Any other ideas? :woohoo:
  • What “you got” already, (not to mention kolbdriver) is really NICE!
I too, am trying to figure out how to get the Egg under cover! Right now, it’s just setting out on a ground level deck with NO cover at all.
I would like a screened porch with plenty of space for chairs, a table and such…but I wiould settle for a space to cook!
Here in MN (both Northern and Southern) a number of the farm houses of the turn of the 20th century had a “summer kitchen”! My grand parents and great grand parents, on both sides, had summer kitchens. One as simple as a gas stove out side for canning, another in a separate building (the old milk house) and yet another that was an entire bake porch!
I really like that idea and want to get something going for myself….But really do have a lack of space to do anything on a large scale!
At best, I can do an 8’ x 16’ roof / screen porch that is also an entry.
Wish I could offer advice, but I’m between a rock and a hard place myself.
  • Looks good doug, only regret I have with mine is that I wish the roof overhang was a little further away from the eggs, or the cook area more into the patio for when it rains really hard and the wind is blowing.

Still working on the wife for a small flat screen. Will probably only do a 26 or 32 inch if I ever get the extra money.

So many projects so little money, and sometimes time.

Which eggs are you going to place in the counter?
  • Doug, I love the plans! Let me know when you plan on beginning the work on this. Why not have everybody over after Eggtoberfest...plenty of helping hands then!

Hey thanks AG.I was thinking something like that,I have a 32" in the barn that I may put on the deck,or just save my money and buy another. The small and medium will be built in,and the XL will stay in its nest.I may make the roof overhang a little bigger, still not sure,I just don't want the eggs taking up my barspace :woohoo:
