Wireless Thermometer Question

After using my Maverick et-73 for about 6 months, my smoker probe has given out. I have an extra meat probe from an old Maverick that seems to sync up just fine, but I haven't used it in the egg yet. Does anyone see a problem using a meat probe in the smoker port?

As long as the temps read correctly it shouldn't present a problem.

The popular thought expressed here and other sites for years is that ALL such thermometers and cables regardless of the retail name from cheapies to name brands all come out of just two loading docks in China. As long as the probe fits and gives you a reasonably accurate response in boiling water tests then go for it. This does not apply to the more intelligent units such as Guru - but you get my drift.
