End of Grilling Season.....

I was driving around today and listening to the radio. I heard a commercial saying "it is the end of grilling season..." All I could think is fat chance! I am just getting started. All the other backyard yahoos can pack away their metal kettle cookers and go back inside now.

Now is the best time of year for me. Lots of cuts of meat to choose from in meat case. No need to elbow others out to get the best grilling cuts. I no longer have to smell the neighbor reducing their food to carbon over the fence. Nice and cool as I hang around the egg and enjoy the cool late summer evenings.

Yep, I am just getting started.

In the profound and immortal words of Bluto (aka John Belushi) "Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Nice thing about "The End of Grilling Season" is that Wally World and their buddies give the charcoal away to make room for the holiday goodies. Time to load up for the holidays.

AMEN BROTHER!!! ;) I do more cooks in the winter cause I got more time. Sort of like the motorcycle shed at work. Can't hardly find a place to park now but let the temp drop to 50 and I can park sidways!
  • Nice looking table! What did use to build it? What is that hose attached to the MAPP gas tank and how is it connected (what kinda of plumbing connectors)? Thanks.

What do you do in all that down time Pete?
  • Grilling season ended the day I took this pic, after which I made beef short ribs:

It began again two days later, with a butt cook.
  • in my experience, a snow storm often provides the best conditions for an overnight cook. steady snowfall is perfect, but she does fine in a blizzard too.

also shows of the insulative qualities of the ceramic, though i must admit the snow didn't last too long on the dome after i took this shot. still, imagine how long snow would stay around pn a gasser at 750. ..if a gasser could get to 750 in the first place that is.
