Sides to go with butt
Kokeman

I am having 3 families over Sunday. I am wanting to showcase my egg. I am cooking two pork butts and need some ideas for sides. I was thinking cedar plank potatoes or corn on the cob. About how many cobs can fit on a large with gill extender? Any other ideas?

Cole Slaw. I like vinegar, no mayo. Google Asian Slaw.

Apple Coleslaw with Poppy Seed Dressing
Poppy Seed Honey Dressing:
2 tbls apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup mayonnaise
3 tbls poppy seeds
3 tbls honey
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup finely minced parsley leaves, optional
2 Fiji apples, peeled, cored, shredded
1 bag (16oz) prepared coleslaw w carrots
Prepare the Poppy Seed Dressing In a medium bowl, then add the slaw mix and blend well.
This works very well with pork since the flavor of apples is complimentary to pork. -
Baked Beans Recipes
Beans, Baked, Keri's Hog-Apple Baked Beans
INGREDIENTS:
3-4 Slices Bacon, diced
2 16 Oz Can Pork and beans, mostly drained (modified to 2 28-oz cans Bush's Baked Beans - see note below)
1/2 cup Blues Hog BBQ Sauce (or other sweet-spicy favorite)
1 lb smoked leftover smoked pork or beef, more or less, or 1 lb crumbled cooked pork sausage
1 Can Apple pie filling
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbs Mustard (prepared)
1 tsp chipotle or cayenne powder (optional, to taste*)
1 tsp Blues Hog barbecue rub (or your favorite de jour)
Procedure:
1 Brown bacon, and saute onion and green pepper in bacon grease. Mix in remaining ingredients. Bake at 325º for 1 hour, or simmer on stovetop in large pot for 30 minutes if you don't have time to do them in the oven. Serves 12.
2 This recipe began life as APPLE PIE BAKED BEANS from somewhere on the web, but I think I've made enough changes to it now to claim it as my own. This is my standard for baked beans anymore.
3 *This is a rather spicy recipe due to the chipotle/cayenne powder. Feel free to leave it out if you'll be feeding those who prefer a less spicy taste.

Add all the goo from the pie filling. The beans get a rinse.
