How Much?

How much are these grills? Do they come in different sizes? One more question how much meat can you fit on them?
Thanks

  • Leon,
The prices depend on the size and where you buy them. I've seen Large eggs on eBay for $450 but then shipping from TN is on top of that. Have you browsed this website? There is information about the various sizes available (mini, small, medium, large). If you are creative you can fit a lot of meat on a large. I've seen two boston butts on a small.[p]TNW

I just found the site. I need to look around a bit. What makes these such great cookers? I have been thinking about adding another cooker to my collection so I thought I would look into one of these.

Leon,[p]You mention "other cookers." Unless you have cooked on a ceramic cooker with adjustable vents, there is nothing comparable to this. The ceramic holds in the heat; you use a lot less fire, so the meat doesn't dry out. The vents mean that you can control temp as well as you can in an oven. The fact that it is ceramic, not clay, means that it is durable.[p]There are a couple of other ceramic units on the market that are probably about as good, but this one is really good. Note all of the fanatical participants on this forum. I don't spend all day raving about any of my other household appliances, but there must be something special about this one.[p]PS -- I just bought one for my mother's 70th birthday. My cousin now has one, my wife's roommate from college, etc.

<p />Leon,[p]When checking prices make sure you know what accessories are included. I paid $700.00 for my 1st large egg. That may sound high but it came with a lot of the accessories. IMO the large is the size to get, it's not that much more than the medium and there will be times you want the space. That being said all thge sizes are great cookers and you would be happy with whatever you may decide to purchase. [p]Hang out around here and you'll see why most of us think our BGEs are the best cookers around.[p]The photo is 38 pounds of boston butt and a 14 pound brisket so you can cook a lot.[p]Chuck <><

    Leon,
My prefence in meat is "low and slow". I was used to a brinkman smoker that I needed to tend every couple of hours. Got a egg a couple of years ago and have never gone back. There is nothing like stabilizing the fire and then not dealing with it for 20+ hours. I now have a large and a small and am waiting on an excuse to get another.

Leon,[p]Call the Big Green Egg company and they can fax or mail you a two page price list. I did it yesterday. What I don't know is if the local dealers discount off the prices. I believe the large was 539, medium 389, small 239. [p]
