Making jerky and have a question about ramp mode..
1. Both probes foiled together
2. Set meat temp to 150, left pit temp at 175
3. Turned guru on and saw ramp mode light
The fan is not turning off despite meeting the set pit temperature.
Any gurus out there who can tell me what I'm missing???

Sorry, maybe not enough coffee this morning, but I don't know what you mean by:
1. Both probes foiled together. -
There is a pit probe and a meat probe. According to the guru's instructions you place these guys together and wrap in foil to fool the unit so you can maintain a lower temperature than the lowest pit temperature of 175 degrees.
After messing with things I do think I've figured it out - I need to set the meat temperature dial 15 degrees cooler than what I actually want in the egg. -
dunno..maybe I misread that or need to re-read, but I have never foiled my probes together like that and I've used my DQ2 to maintain pit temps as low as 90-100 for smoking cheese

Thanks bobbyq - Things are working great now..Been on for about 7 hours and looking good. I have had to relight the coals a few times, but this is my first cold smoke attempt and I probably just need to experiment with my lump/wood load.
