Last year sometime we were talkin bout the pros & cons of the Avocado. I am definitely PRO Avocado. Someone, maybe Max, was grilling the Little Green Eggshaped yummies. I have a beauty at home right now and would like to grill it tonight. I am also making a pizza.

Any grilling help would be appreciated.

I love these things SO much that I consider it a sin to do much more than sprinkle a bit of S&P and eat them raw. Guacamole is a good way to use overripe ones. I would never grill one - but I have to admit I've never tried grilled avocado.

If I got the Handle right I am going to differ to Beli. I recently had avocado slices in soup at a mexican returant that was great.

I certainly agree. I like 'em cold out of the fridge with s&p. Have never tried grillin' them either but I must admit, my curiosity is piqued. A while back they were billed as being high in fat and unfit for a healthy diet (kinda like shell fish). Fortunately, that was exposed as a load of barnyard droppings. I'm looking for a web site which I saved that touts the benefits of eating this delectable fruit and hopefully will post it later.

And got "I've grilled avocados a number of times to great reviews. Brush cut halves with olive oil and grilled 3-4 minutes. I fill it with salsa for a first course."

I am not going to try it tonight as I have pizza dough rising, well maybe I will put 1/2 on when the egg cools a bit, I am not going to do the salsa thing for the first time. I am going to oil the grill well.

You've got it exactly right. Add a little extra wood and allow the smoke to settle but not go out completely. I was just thinking about grilling some last night. You'll love 'em. And the smoked guacamookie is as good, as salsa is, with smoked components. I like 'em right off the grill, and a twist of lime for me, please.YUMmmmm!

only grill them if they are hard. If they are soft they will get extra mushy.
