Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, even when john's there he's not really, think it's a fishing or grape soda thing  But you'll never meet a nicer guy.

    Hey Kim,
I'm so happy for you!! :woohoo:
I have two mixers : one is the KitchenAid Professional 600 model that is 575 watts and the largest one they make. The other is a Viking Professional model that is 1000 watts! I think I really prefer the KA. This is my third KA. I had a 325 watt model and when that died I got the 350 watt. I stripped the gears out of that one doing that sourdough bread. That sourdough is really stiff dough. I would suggest you get the largest one that fits your budget......in your case, money is no object!
If she is going to be doing sourdough the smaller KA versions will crap out on you sooner or later. My recommendation : The KA Pro 600, hands down!!
It's kind of like the BGE....once you get past the initial outlay you'll never look back.
That Pro 600 is one sweet machine! :)
  • Kim....Costco has a big Kitchenaid for around $250.00 that is an excellent machine....also, check Dillards as they should be running a 30 to 50 per cent off sale again in the next week or two....hope this helps

575 watts? - how does that relate to the amps it draws? Is it still just a 110 volt 15 or 20 amp circuit, or do you have it on a dedicated circuit to the breaker box? Do the city street lights dim when you crank up that bad boy?

I wondered what happened to our lights! :woohoo: It just runs on the regular 110 circuit....in fact, when I'm doing several loaves I'll have both machines going.

Thanks for the info. I will look for deals on the larger KA. I can't wait to start making some GOOD bread....even though the No Knead Bread has been both easy & good... :P
