I've had my large BGE since April. Of course I love it at cook on it 2-4 times every week. Last week I noticed that the entire top is covered in what looks (and feels) like fine, spiderweb like cracks in the outside finish. The base is still like new (outside at least). I tried taking a photo to show y'all, but it doesn't show up at all with my camera.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? I went in to see the local dealer last weekend, and he is supposed to check with the company this week, come out and take a look.

I think this is pretty normal, so long as the glaze doesn't start falling off.
-
Mine did the same thing after my first high temp. Haven't notice any of the glazing coming off and it's been months. I wouldn't sweat it.

Yeah...the finishes are cracking on mine, but that hasn't affected anything but the aesthetics. They still manage to do their jobs quite well
If the cracks start getting into the ceramic and affect the cooks, I'd contact your dealer to get the pieces replaced under warranty.

Mine was crazed when I brought it home. My friend got a large from the same dealer 4 weeks earlier, no crazing.

Hey Bente, Never heard of such a thing nor have I seen this before. I went to NW site and looked. Looks like they don't make them like they used to.SEE YOU IN FLORIDA, March 14th and 15th 2014 http://www.sunshinestateeggfest.com You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! You have seen it. You just haven't paid attention to it. It is a normal thing that happens when Glazed Ceramics are exposed to heat.
Look at any old porcelain dish and you will see it.
Personally if you do see it you are paying way too much attention to the cooker and not enough to the food it's cooking. -
I only have that condition on my oldest and honestly I had forgotten about that until this thread! I just checked and yup, up close they are still there, and nope, it hasn't affected anything! Besides, over the years those minute cracks have filled with soot and dirt.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!
