Spring Chicken

Good morning Eggheads and Eggless Heads.

After spending two well thought out sentences telling my Keel Repairman how his magical surgical blade also reduced my middle of the dark period emergency plumbing issues, I found myself wishing to retract my proclamation because only moments ago I was forcibly rousted from my recharging station and strongly encouraged to make haste in the direction of the facility maintenance department. Yep! A full blown plumbing emergency. Fortunately, I had not forgotten the response sequence and made the journey in sufficient time to avoid a disaster. Management by Recall.

As for my early light period time with Mr. Magic Blade, perhaps he did not understand what I was talking about in the first place. "Plumbing emergencies" "Recharging station" "Facility maintenance department" These were probably unknown adventures to him. (Young whipper-snapper).

So off to check the refrigeration illuminator. Working well.

Then to the external observation portal where I immediately spotted Rodney Dangerbird at his security post. He waved as soon as he saw me. No problems. Each new dark period brings on a threat of new security challenges but Rodney has let it be known in the perpetrator world that they should give extreme thought to the consequences should they test the security here at the Ranch. His Shoot Now - Make Inquires Later policy is by now well known throughout the region. The result is that perpetrators go elsewhere to carry out their crimes. Rodney's proactive approach to criminal activity is much better than trying to solve a crime after it has been committed so I see no need at this time to remove him from his duties just because his crowing ability has been diminished. But I will continue to keep my options open.

My visit to the Practicing Medical Scalpel Handler produced the expected results, that my post surgical recovery is coming along well and that in four more weeks I should be improved sufficiently to perform routine maneuvers such as bending, stooping, lifting, grinding, gyrating, rapping, (oh wait... scratch those last three). He said I could even do so now on a limited basis but that I should be prepared for the consequences. That being I will encourage the onset of pain and possibly damage to the wounded area. So I shall make a detailed list of all the things I wish to do and perform none of them over the next lunar cycle. Or at least make the effort. I happen to find "doing nothing" a disheartening activity.

My visit to the Forum was just one of a few I made, most of which happened during the light period when I announced the availability of a free Bose Wave Radio, part of the Ranch inventory, because it had reached malfunction stage. A taker immediately came forward who will fix or get fixed the item and put it to good use. That action saved the local landfill one cubic foot of space usage.

A quick review of the reports, of which there were many, disclosed not only the presence of well known Eggents but a growing collection of new Eggents. Their reports were interesting, some reflecting a highly creative atmosphere of Egg heating skills. And the pictorals made the reports even more interesting, especially those from Eggent Beli, who continued with his tour of Outpost Mexico. He obviously enjoys the unusual and the beautiful with equal enthusiasm. The 9 Members and 103 Guests were sufficient in number for me to return to the Recharging Station to prepare for another period of doing nothing.
