Now that is a paella pan, not going to fit on an Egg, or any bbq that comes to mind. Nice shots Beli! -RP
-
Beli,
Nice pic's, where are the recipes?
My Best,
Ross -
Will start posting oaxacan recipes tomorrow Ross ........Planning to cook ¨Oaxacan Mole Negro¨ first
-
Beli,
I can't wait!
Ross -
Dude the macro of the bee on the straw is an award winning shot!
you ought to submit that to National Geographic...
the other shots are top notch but a good macro is a beautiful thing.
by the way what was he trying to drink? -
Looks to me like the bee had too much to drink and was worshipping, as I need to do at my while, procelain throne.

But -- agreed! Great shot! -
TKS my friend, we were just happily seating in Oaxaca´s main square...¨The Zócalo¨ when this bee arrived and landed precisely on top of the straw of my 5 year old daughter´s drink...sprite if I remember well... if you notice it had been raining and the bee has a couple of raindrops on her leg
-
Hmmmm . . . How do we know that bee is Oaxacan when its not wearing the local dress?
Hey - I showed the previous photos to my spouse and she agreed that they really caught the flavor of the city, particularly of the markets. Great work! -
We have a saying in México ¨What the eyes can´t see, the heart can´t feel¨ so I suppose seeing & catching those immages on camera, makes one feel it much more. I might add that the aromas precisely in the market were priceless......all the different chilies varieties, the spices, the freshly ground coffee & chocolate the moles etc. all account for an unforgettable experience.
By the way...you don´t suppose that bee is one of those woman´s lib cases in which they pop up naked everywhere  -
Wonderful photos, post more anytime. The Filete Santo Domingo really caught my eye.LBGE Katy (Houston) TX

Absolutely stunning photos. The cuisine is incredible.
I've made several pleasure trips to Mexico over the past 20 years, but never to that part of the country. It certainly is appealing. -
Beautiful camera work you really caught that Mexico feeling for me. No Mexico trip for us this year, does anyone have a great Lime soup recipe?
Here is My brother, the First Mate and I at Bob Marleys' Rasta Bar in Cozumel. -
You should visit the area! Oaxaca itself is charming but its also in the center of a number of nearby (within an hour or so in any direction) villages that tend to specialize in various crafts. Some have mostly weaving, others have mostly wood carvings, etc., but all are appealing. And Beli's photos only barely express the magnificence of Monte Alban sitting high on a mountain overlooking the region. What surprised me most, however, was the climate - my previous experience with Mexico was, like many Americans, along the US border and I expected horrible heat; instead the altitude made it very comfortable even in mid-August. And hotel rates are way down if you time it right!

My wife wonders if the photos of the dancers were taken at the Camino Real show?
-
Great pics, Beli.
-
We have talked a bit about moving to Mexico, the wife is a little skeptical. I like to dive so we have spent a lot of time in Cozumel and on the East coast where the nice reefs are. Haven't really been inland except to the Ruins on the Yucatan.
-
TKS. I am very fortunate in having a good friend and "Compadre" who owns a Restaurant in Oaxaca just half a block from The Santo Domingo Church altar...
He has it on his menu. Will get the recipe.
-
Strongly recommend it. It's changing so fast.......
-
The Camino Real Show was only on saturdays, and we arrived and left on a saturday so our time schedule wouldn't allow it. This is also a Guelaguetza Show wchich runs daily at the "Casa de Cantera" - La Casa de la Guelaguetza - on Murguia St. downtown, couple of blocks from the Camino Real.
-
Hey my friend my wife & I are also certified divers...you are certainly doing it in a great reef Cozumel. Are you going to Atlanta??? Hope so , so we can meet & chat .
-
Great photo...& company.....Sol & Corona and......does it look like a Bloody Mary
-
Rod....I think you would love it, Food, Drink, Prehispanic & Colonial History, Music, Dance .....oh & some of the most beautiful women  ....specially the ones from the Tehuantepec Istmus Region.
-
It is a bloody Mary but with Tequila instead of Vodka.
-
There is a possibility, I am planning a cross country drive and would love to take it in. We have not come up with a starting date for it as yet.
-
Great pics. What a huge paella pan! I NEED one of those!
-
Thats it!! I have looked at these unbelievable pics of your place and the place you have been. I'm rounding up all my old batteries and beer cans and taking them to be recycled!! I WANT THE GOOD LIFE!! Seriously Beli I always look forward to your post. I know it's not always been "perfect" for you and we are all blessed in the end. Really great pics especially the bee! One question.. what did the wife say about shipping the "dancing girl" home with the Harley?!!?? :P
-
   ..tell you what really happened.......at the dance show this girl asked me to dance in a very local way in front of everyone attending   which left nothing to imagination..
I handled the video camera to my wife........only to find out at the end that she had'nt been able to record anything because she couldn't find the lens adjustment
I said don't worry my darling
-
No pics/ No proof!!!
-
Yes you are right... :( you can ask mi wife anytime
-
The Mexican "highlands" are radically different from the coastal areas, particularly in climate but also in a different kind of tourist orientation. Cozumel is more of a resort kind of place. Oaxaca is tourist oriented but has much more history and charm.
My wife and daughter just returned from a long week in San Miquel de Allende, 175 miles northwest of Mexico City - its also at a higher altitude and has a great climate but has a very large ex-pat community which brings in many of the benefits that come with catering to Americans other than on a purely tourist basis. Unless you really like the water-related activities, you might want to look at that kind of place.
