I can get about 20 hours with my Medium, at 225F -- if I fill that sucker all the way to the very top of the fire RING [not box].

At 350F, I can burn for maybe four hours. So -- temps have a lot to do with it.

Whenever I want to do something longer than, say, just a steak or two, I fill that thing up way into the firebox. I detest running out during a cook. I'd rather have some extra lump at the end of a cook.

Then, I bring the temp up to 600+F and burn off all the gooies and stinkies, etc. I'm a fuzz-budget, and I don't like to let crud build up.

But, then again, I don't have much left of my gaskets.

    Gaskets -- over-rated!

Are you using charcoal - like Kinsford - or lump? Make sure you are using lump.

I was going to send you to TNW's site but it looks like MIke has beaten me to it. I am a believer in building your fire the correct way. I hear some say it doesn't matter, but I always build my fire like that and have never had any issues. Just my 2 cents on this one. ;)B)
