required registration prior to posting......

i'm sure it's been discussed at length ad nauseum, but a couple recent very trolling posts have made me wonder why it's not required.

if you want to take the time to criticize someone i think you should at least be required to register beforehand.

i hate seeing bigtime contributors crapped on by someone who doesn't have the bells to register the forum and face whatever repercussions that may follow.

this is about the 900th time this has been suggested.

a good many people lurk here for any number of reasons.

making someone register (which process is far from perfect) before they can ask questions is a debatable idea. i don't care one way or another if they enact it, but i am for letting peeps post WITHOUT registering.

troll post are few, far between, and ineffectual.

the problem with trolls is not that they post, it's that for some reason the 50th person reading the post feels that repeating what the other 49 posters wrote before them will somehow be a contribution. that makes the thread more active, and even more people read, show even less restraint, and post yet another post, ad nauseum.

folks should just ignore it...
but that is too hard for many people.

we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

if a person posts something suspension worthy or ban worthy, it can be done.

under the current anonymous rules, one can troll and troll and troll, without the thread of any repercussion.

i'm a member of several message boards and this is THE ONLY ONE you can post on anonymously without fear of any retribution.

just my $.02.

women used to not be able to vote and now they can......

times change. i'd guess this board has many more members AND visitors than it did in the past.

oh well, let the lurkers keep on slagging contributing members. instead of running off the trolls, let's run of contribution members.

if you feed them (and boy, did people let themselves get sucked into his vortex), then you are as responsible for the foolishness as the original troll.

this place has very few trolls..... stick around a while and you'll see. don't let some innocuous post drive all the others off the board.

i didn't say you were. the total number of messages posted by everyone under that thread (and the two or three additional threads about it) have pushed the other posts and threads off the screen onto pages two and three.

the very reaction you guys provided are what trolls feed off of.

i totally agree with you. would be cool if those types of posts could be locked and nobody could reply and they'd drop to the bottom like stones.
