Just went to costco and they had their lobster at $29.99/lb. I would think it would be less for the folks by the ocean.
That seems like a high price even for being inland.

That seems way high, even for us out in the desert.

It has been many years since I have been to Sams. It seems to me Costco is getting more expensive on things all around.
Maybe I will take a ride over to Sam's and see what they have.
Had my taste buds wanting to try some egg lobsters but those are pricey little buggers.
GG -
The last time I bought some lobster tails at Sam's I think we paid $35.00 for 3.

Here you go! They must have flown them lobstah's out in a first class seat! I believe this was in the Boston Globe or in the Portland paper.
Maine Lobster Prices Feel Economic Pinch
ASSOCIATED PRESS
July 31, 2008; Page D5
It's peak season for lobster in Maine, yet consumption of the crustacean has fallen to the point where it costs no more than sliced turkey in parts of New England.
A solid harvest and diminished demand from diners adjusting to the weak economy have pushed the retail price of lobster in Maine beneath $6 a pound.
Lobster lovers outside of New England won't notice any change in price, analysts said, since Maine's summertime catch is mostly soft-shelled and too fragile to ship long distances. -
5.99 a pound here todayed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante

That's just not fair. Not the price, your dinner. That is a mighty fine looking spread. Hope it tasted as good as it looks on this end.

Could be worse. I was at Kroger this morning and they were selling select grade filets for $14.99 per pound.
-
-
I figured it would be less but...
GG -
Wow, I sure hope that is not a sign of things to come.
I can get, well last week when I checked, 24 dry aged prime for $19.99/lb.
GG -
I just feel for the people that don't know any better and buy them at that price.
Me - I decided to do pizzas tonight. -
GG, I can remember (and my mom verifies) that when I was growing up in the late 50's, we ate CRAB because it was cheaper than CHICKEN!! My how times have changed! The Naked Whiz
-
At that price I'll stick with the snow crab I bought yesterday at $4:99 a pound. That was some good eats.
-
Had nearly the same problem growing up in Point Judith RI.
We ate lobstah's because they we cheaper than beef and in those days beef was 20¢ (or there abouts) a pound.
Kids at school were always trying to trade off the lobstah sandwiches they had for anything including PB&J! -
Larry,
Thank you very much for sharing the recipe.
Kent -
stike, Now that hurts.
Kent -
Your welcome...We have cooked it many times and it all ways turns out good. The main thing is not to over cook it.
Larry -
That is just amazing.
I just checked at a fish store. Larger lobster $31.99/lb. 6 - 8 oz $12.99 each - so about $26/lb for small ones.
King crab $19.99/lb, snow crap - $9.99/lb
Think I will cook hot dogs.
GG -
If I am going to spend that kind of money I am thinking more towards prime rib.
or as I said below - hot dogs.
Kent -
I have got to get closer to some water.
Small snow crab $9.99/lb here.

Lobster tails at safeway here in Norcal last week on SALE for 87.50 per pound. where is the 30 dollar stuff?????????
-
I am hoping the above was $7.50/lb.
It is turning out the $30/lb is the least expensive. Costco in Salt Lake City. Safeway's $31.99/lb and another large local cain $31.99.
I will try and get to Sam's tomorrow.

Right off the boat 4.74 - 5.00. swimming just a few hours ago.
just had fresh corn and potatoes for dinner tonight. might be time for a good feed
cooked and picked pure meat 32.00 a pound. -
Yow! My taste buds peak at around half that.
-
Oh that hurts hearing that.
I love lobster but this is just crazy. I thought gas was expensive.
I will cook come corn and potatoes and please post when you cook the lobster. I will look and enjoy the view.
GG -
I feel the same way...
I remember when I was young and my folks would talk about prices and the such.
I thought geeze they are so out of touch. I guess I am there. LOL... I remember in high school gas was 13¢ a gallon. I am sure lobsters were one heck of a lot less too.
GG -
so I guess you don't want to know that this year's mini season we got 48 lobsters. You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP
-
Yea, but looking at your site it seems like you do that kind of stuff...
I don't even see that many in one place around here.
I wonder what lobster is in the resturants.
GG -
i've just started to blame the high prices on everything on gas prices and republicans.
;o) -
I am sure the high gas prices are some of the problem but I think a lot of companies are using that as an excust.
republicans - I am not sure. Congress as a whole definately.
Pelosi wouldn't even allow a vote to drilling completly discusting.
Think of how much of our money (the peoples money) that is being spent on oil that our enemies are supplying to us.
Our national wealth or a good portion of it is being sent to other countries.
We should vote out every person in congress and get a new group. I don't care if the incumbants are good or bad. They all need to go.
Further they need to be put on the same health care, retirements, SS, Medicare, Medicate that the rest of the country is on.
Then and only then will we see something being done for citizens.
If the new elected people don't do what the citizens want then vote them out.
Some point in time those idiots up there will get the idea do help us the citizens.
Better yet hang them all!
Chubby for President, thats my vote.
Think I will go and take some heart medicine and get the paddles ready.
