Yet another question about MAPP and weed burners and such
Greetings![p]Okay, I have been fairly happy with the old newspaper and a chimney full of lump for starting my egg. Unless it’s raining, snowing or hailing. Sooo, I broke down and bought one of them thar weed burner thingees. I have seen them used before and saw how quickly they got lump ignited. Anyways, I seem to remember someone posting about using the correct head on it if it were burning MAPP vs coleman camping propane or something to that effect.[p]Can someone please enlighten me so that my first run with it doesn’t result in my imminent death? Any and all thoughts about this will welcomed.[p]Also, what is MAPP and how is it different than propane?[p]Waters (it’s a little to early for beer right now)
Matt.

South O,
Mapp gas burns hotter then propane which is why you need a head that is compatible with the amount of heat the mapp gas will supply. There are different styles or configuration of heads available. I believe there is a tank and hose assembly like a plumber would use. Go to any of the large home improvement stores and look in the tool department at the different models
Hope that helps.

I found a brief explanation of MAPP gas (see link). Methinks I'm heading off to Home Depot - regards to all.

fairalbion,
Great research..Lowe's also carry MAAP and the diferent torch heads for using it. MAAP burns far to hot to use with propane heads..nde

fairalbion,
If you're still here, look for the one with an adjustable flame. A knob that you can controll the size of the flame. I have an adjustable one and one that is not, I like the adjustable one.
