Base broke
Had my large Egg for 10 years and can reconfirm that if they fall, they will break :(
I broke the the base and rest of it is intact. I went to dealer to buy new base and 2 things, the hole in the front to slide in notch for the bands was not drilled and also the top diameter is smaller than the base. Did they change the design in last 10 years?

I believe they stopped putting studs on the bands to fit in the drilled holes in the egg. Don't know why the top is smaller then the bottom.

i think the line up pin in the band was causing problems so the newer bands no longer have them. my newer base still had the hole, you will have to remove the pin in the old band. how did the base breakfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

redoing the patio and moving it on 2 wheeler, slipped off. Will teach me next time to tune of $244, to take it apart and move it piece by piece

Tom,
If the base is a different diamater than the dome you should call BGE and ask them the question and see if they have a solution for you.
GG -
called BGE, no one could answer the question. Kind of frustrated now as I buzzed off the peg, lower band will still not fit. Would go longer screw but the carriage bolt is unique due to size so it won't turn. Any ideas, help

Guess to add insult to injury, the Egg will not fit in the nest. The base sits about 1.5 to 2in from sitting flush on nest. Anybody have this problem replacing parts and BGE apparently changed molds from 9 years ago?
-
Here is a pic of 2 LBGE, notice the difference in the nests. The older style has different size base than the newer style.
-
How old are your eggs? Both bases are both sitting at bottom of nest?
-
The bases on the 2 left LBGE are diff. That was my point. Notice the 2 nests are different also. The newer eggs are a different measurement on the bases.
-
So guess since top, nest, lower band do not fit, one has to buy entire new Egg?
Why did they change the design?
