Leave Bone In?
Cracker
Posts: 3
I am doing my first Boston Butt tonight. Purchased an 8 pounder, got it home and realized it has the bone in it, should I cut out the bone or leave it in?

Cracker,
The bone stays in on my cooks.Good luck!!

Jim R, yes and when you're done it comes out so clean the dog will be disappointed.
-
Wise One,
Can that bone be given to dogs? I thought pork bones were no good?

Wardster,
As long as the bones internal tempature is at 160 degrees, your dog will be fine. Take a drill and drill a hole in the bone, then stick you polder in the bone and cook until at 160.

SmokieHokie,
I expect as much from a Hokie fan....

Wardster, there can be no danger. That bone will be so clean (both inside and out) that there will be nothing for then to chew. I personally just throw mine out since my cats only like chicken wing bones (I know, I know. It's not good for cats. My wife tells me that all the time.)
