Can a butt be rubbed too long?

I am doing my first (2) BBs this weekend for the upcoming holiday. Because of a legendary football rivalry kicking off 20 hours from now (UGA v. Clemson), I have rubbed my (2) 6 lb. butts and lathered them up with French's yellow maybe a day early(?). They are resting comfortably in ziplocs in my fridge. Is it going to be a problem that I am not throwing them on the egg until Sunday evening? I am assuming that more is good in regards to marinating time, because I really have no other choice. Either way, I would love to hear some personal experiences with long marination of BBs, good or bad.[p]Thanks for all of the help this new egger has gotten so far!

bigmikej,
The case of pork butt and brisket the kind of time your are talking about is not a problem, if you were using citric acid in a marinade I would suggest using shorter times on any meat.

bigmikej,
That shouldn't be a problem at all. I left a couple 5 days one time when I had to leave town and they came out great. As Jim said as long as you don't have an acid based marinate (Vinager, Citric) you should be ok![p] GO TIGERS!!!, Just had to say that we used to live in the Clemson area before we moved to Louisville, KY.
