Did I just have an eggasm?

All kidding aside, when I pulled off the rack of ribs done GFW style (thanks man) I just about soiled myself. I am not that old, nor that knowledgable, but I consider myself a rib specialist (in terms of taste) and those were the BEST damn ribs I have EVER had. My next assignment is to figure out what made them so good, for I tried 2 new things. First was the GFW method of 5hr foil/non-foil cook AND I tried a friends suggested method of preparing hickory smoke chunks. He reccomends that you boil the wood chunks in a mixture of water, salt and brown sugar.... lots of brown sugar. Then you let them dry... then they are ready to go. When it was all said and done my wood chunks looked almost crystalized, and boy did they smell wonderful, nonetheless the combo of the GFW method and brown sugar hickory is A++. (as soon as I get the energy, i'll upload some pics)[p]By the way, I want to thank all of you "eggspurts" for helping me in recent days. I was a bit skeptical at first, and thought this wacky egg was more of a myth than a device that actually does what it claims.... but I can truthfully say, it IS the best thing since sliced bread. If you are new on the forum, and thinking about getting an egg, don't think, just get one, you won't be dissapointed.

Strmn2Smoke,
Can do, I used his Memphis (times and temps modified) and used Lea and Perrins bbq sauce.

Joel Ferman,
Have you tried the lowly chicken yet?
Even though chicken is always my last choice it is my wife's main fare. The egg excels on the bird, always moist and great color. I photographed a chicken session this weekend and will be posting it soon.[p]

ravnhaus,
Don't forget to make it a BIG chicken. Smoked Chicken leftovers make excellent chicken salad! We roast Tyson Sunday Roasters (usually around six pounds) at least once a week!
