Going to make smoked deviled eggs. Hard boiled 7, will smoke 2, chop those up after cooling and mix in with the yolk of the others. Now I was brought up on Miracle Whip so will use that in place of Mayo. I don't dislike mayo but find it "flat"

About 3 tablespoons Miracle Whip

a dash or two of Tabasco sauce

a teaspoon of horseradish or so

a dash of white vinegar

Maybe a little Di Jon country mustard

a bit of finally chopped green onion

a dash of paprika on top

one small slice of black olive on top of the paprika

At least that is what I have in mind. LOL

I have miss mini fired up to smoke the two eggs a bit later.

Cheers,

Bordello

Sounds absolutely delish! 8 - )~~ What's the smoke flavor and time/temp so as not to vulcanize them, por favor?

Thanks, being as the eggs are hard boiled, peel and for me....... probably a mild flavor such as apple or cherry. As low a heat as I can get and about 20 min. or so. Depends on the smoke, if light a little longer (if the egg temp is low) or if a bit on the heavy (but not fresh bitter smoke) a shorter time.

It's trial and error according to your taste.
Have to go buy the sliced olives.

Sounds great. Also a few teaspoons of tea leaves in an aluminum pouch with a few small holes makes a great smoke for eggs.

    Interesting idea.

Got me to wondering about roasting some tomato and doing the same with some fresh basil leaves. Might try that on the mini. Tomato with garlic and basil smoke.

Now that's an interesting thought, too bad I didn't see it till I got back from the store. Will keep it in mind.

    Thanks,

I have a large,6feet across, Purple basil plant and when I trim it, dry the leaves and keep the twigs for smoke. Nice flavor on lamb and poultry.

what has made deviled eggs easier around here is to put your final mixture into a zip lock bag and cut a corner off to make a cheap piping bag.....

you may already do this but figured i would let you know what i do ;)

    happy eggin

Wow, now that is a huge plant. In the past I have had a horrible time growing basil, always inside and small planters.

I have one basil plant doing pretty well but I don't think It will get real big as it is in a larger planter box but that is goign to limit the root system. And I wonder even if these will survive over winter.

I keep hearing and seeing folks doing that with other stuff.

Thanks for making me think of the application.
