Spring Assist Hinge

I am looking at updating my Egg with the new spring assist hinge but it appears that I will have a problem making it work with my table. I do not want to raise the height of my Egg. I would rather cut a notch in the back that would allow free travel of the spring mechanism.[p]I would appreciate some close up photos of the mechanism in action, preferably with some measurements.
