Plate setter cracked!

Has anyone else had a problem with their plate setter cracking due to heat? I must admit that our local egg dealer didn't have any, so I ordered ours online. I'm wondering if maybe it was not the real deal....

The real deal should have "Big Green Egg" molded into the underside.

It should be stamped with the BGE number on it and might say Made in Mexico somewhere.

Others have had success in glueing theirs back together with J.B. Weld. You can find it in most hardware stores. Good luck.

I doubt anyone makes bootleg platesetters. Make sure you allow them to warm up with the egg. The thermal stress produced by putting a cold platesetter above hot coals might be your problem.
