Can they attach to camp stove sized propane tanks or do you need a grill sized one?

the harbor frieght one i have would only connect to the bigger tank, it has the big acme style thead on it. someone posted a week or so ago with one that the small tank would thread into but the tank might not last too long with that setup
    fukahwee maine

you can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
  • You can buy an adapter that would allow you to use a camping size cylinder, but without having used that setup, I would imagine it would be hard to keep that light of a tank from swinging all around banging into stuff as you light it. I use a regular grill size one and refill it about every 6-8 months lighting the egg 6-7 times a week.

With an 8 ft hose I figured you could hold it with one hand and the torch with the other. If I get one I don't want to lug from the garage a big tank. I'm sure not going to keep it out back with the Eggs with kids that tend to get into stuff.

Harbor Freight has a 'filler adapter' that is supposed to fill the samller bottle type tank from the larger gasser bottles.

Have never tried it but it sounds interesting.

  • yes, with the 'steak saver' adapter you can hook up the small propane bottles to either the weed burner or your gasser...

the cheapest i've seen the adapter is at u-haul, click here

note: this is a serious tool and careless people should not use it. it shoots out a jet blast of blue fire and will burn anything in its way!

but it's the fastest way to light the lump charcoal in your egg.

Alot of fun and very efficient. Great way to keep the dog in line to. Actually used it to burn weeds for the first time and had to keep the dog inside till the concrete cooled.:whistle: . Great with company and you have to tell them to stand back while you light the grill. :woohoo: :woohoo: The looks are priceless.
  • You aren't thinking this through:

    1 hand for "Flamethrower"
    1 hand for Beer
    1 hand for fuel tank

    That's three hands....
  • that depends on how long you pull the turbo trigger! :woohoo:

i can go all weekend at a race so that's at least 6 lights. i'll guess ten

"Here hold my beer" is the last thing said before many a trauma be they burn or otherwise. :(

I don't drink so I'll be okay.
  • I believe you are thinking of the "Last words of a redneck - Hey man hold my beer and watch this s**t" but glad to hear you are in no danger...
