Salsa Recipe Needed OT

I guess I am having a senior citizen moment combined with a demonstrated incompetence with technology![p]I recall seeing a salsa recipe, I was fairly sure on this site, but can’t seem to find it any more. I thought it had smoked tomatoes or jalapenos, but that wasn’t the motivation. I have run out of last year’s salsa, all made from a kit, and have tomatoes and jalapenos ready to go. If anyone has a good scratch recipe, please provide.[p]I am having company tomorrow evening and want to make quesadillas and use the salsa for appetizers. [p]Thanks[p]Buckeye Bill[p]

Buckeye Bill,
I posted a simiar question, and got some great ideas. In fact, the salsa turned out awesome. Check the link below.[p]I also got an email from Qfan, which helped a lot. His suggestion was to char the peppers right in a small pile of glowing coals, rotating until the skin is all black, then putting them in a lidded bowl to steam....after some time, the skin peels right off. While steaming the peppers, clean your maters, and cut a little X in the top so they don't split open. Get a little wood smoking, and your cooker around 200-225, and smoke the tomatoes for a while. Not so long they turn to mush, but just softened slightly. Plunging them into ice water when removing will release the skin.[p]Then I cut em all up, and used some ideas from the recipes that were provided to me by these kind folks. Some onion, garlic, lime juice, and a bunch of Cow Lick rub.[p]Have fun! It really is good made fresh.
Chris
