KOSHER SALT OR SEA SALT?
Marvelous
Posts: 70
We went shopping in William Sonoma bought an electric pepper and salt grinder they told me that Sea salt was better and I bought some extra sea salt as well, I would like to know what some of you on the forum think. Salt comes out fast but i turned the screw down and it comes out very fine. The volume of salt and pepper concerned the wife she thinks it will be hard to control thanks

I'm a sea salt guy. Not sure that you can tell a big difference between kosher and sea...unless you're a saltaholic...or a saltesseur...

i think you'll find very little (if any) difference in flavor. especially dissolved in your food, which is how you'll taste it. even if you could discern a flavor difference from one sample to another, it's rarely eaten that way.
i find the benefit in different salts is with mouth feel. we have a small jar of HUGE crystals which are used as a finishing salt on breads, or slightly crushed between the fingers over salads, etc.
i think you'll really noticed msoked salt (essexco turned us on to that), which you can sprinkle on anything and really taste the smoke. but differences in mineral content between salts rarely actually affect flavor (for 99% of us). visually and texturally, though, difference are huge.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante
